UVA Track and Field Recruiting Standards

Fast Track Recruiting

Want to run for UVA? And, by run I mean run, jump, hurdle or throw. It will be no easy task. Their academic standards are stringent. In addition, as a member of the 16 team ACC conference points are hard to come by. UVA prefers a smaller roster made up of athletes capable of scoring at the ACC and NCAA meet. Their scholarship standards are based on how many points you will score for them at those two meets. Although, they do not post specific qualifying standards the performance listed below will give you an idea of what performance marks you will need:

Want to be a part of Fast Track Recruiting Coach Network and Stanford Head Coach Chris Miltenberg’s  Cardinal Track and Field Program - get ready to work hard! Not only will you have to have close to a 4.0 GPA and test scores in the 30 ACT / 1400 SAT range, you are also going to need off the chart performance marks as well, regardless of your event. There is no easy way onto this team.

Coach Miltenberg and the Stanford coaching staff purposefully do not post recruiting standards for their program. There are too many factors to consider.

I went through their roster to se what marks their current athletes achieved in High School. The performances listed below will give you an idea of just how competitive you will need to be in each event:

How Good Do I Need To Be To Get a Partial Scholarship for Track and Field at an NCAA I (Power 5) School ?

IMG_1220_71.jpg

TRACK AND FIELD SCHOLARSHIPS

In the sport of track and field/cross country getting a full athletic scholarship is extremely difficult. Men's Track and Field programs are allowed a maximum of 12.6 scholarships while the women are allotted 18. However, with over 20 events contested at the collegiate level,  programs need to spread out their scholarship money. As a result, it is extremely common for track and field and cross country programs to offer partial athletic scholarships.

Below you will find the general recruiting standards NCAA I Power 5 Schools are using to decide whether or not to offer a partial athletic scholarship. Remember, these standards are from "big-time" division one programs. Mid-major programs will have slightly lesser standards depending on their level competitiveness.
